Featuring barnyard animals, children’s activities, and a giant maze, A Maze'n Farmyard in Eden Valley, Minnesota, hosts daily activities all summer and weekend festivities throughout the fall. A Maze'n Farmyard is operated by Sheila and Paul Haag, Eden Valley community members who give back to others through their support of nonprofit groups and organizations such as Youth for Christ International. Founded more than 70 years ago, Youth for Christ was founded by Christian leaders who believed that traditional Christian outreach was failing to engage the youth of the world. Since that time, Youth for Christ has expanded to include tens of thousands of volunteers in countries around the world who spread the message of Jesus Christ through energetic, youth-centered initiatives. In addition to its local programs, Youth for Christ operates Foundation for the Nations. Headquartered at Youth for Christ's Northern Ireland offices, the foundation works to raise funds for Youth for Christ projects by partnering with individuals, organizations, and companies. These funds are then distributed to Youth for Christ chapters through a competitive grant application process. To be eligible for a foundation grant, applications must be for projects that will commence within 12 months of funding. The projects must also be approved by applying nation’s Youth for Christ national director, by the chair of the organization’s National Board, and by the appropriate area or regional director, or the international director. Project descriptions can vary widely, however, with funding available for capital improvements, website development, humanitarian aid projects, and others.
